Here is an example trade.

This is a Descending Triangle trade in march Silver. I alerted subscribers of this triangle as it was developing long before prices broke out to the upside. There were four ways to trade this formation depending how you wished to trade it. You could buy a futures contract at 1860.1 with a stop back inside the triangle based on your account size and risk tolerance. You could also use a put option rather than a dollar stop amount. You could buy a call option no further than three strike prices above 1860.1. Or you could use a call option spread. Each recommendation is fully explained in the trade alert, I'm usually in the office so you can call or email me if you have questions or concerns about the position.

However, not every trade goes as planned and we take some small losses or breakeven trades and the next chart of July wheat is a good example.

 Here we had another triangle trade where we entered the trade when prices broke out of the triangle at 745.50. The predetermined profit objective was $5,712.50, but the market didn't reach that amount before reversing. No big deal as we keep losses to a minimum and bank on several home run trades each year like this year 2010, silver (top chart) gold, cotton, corn, soybeans, sugar and a few others will cover many small losses.

When we entered this trade at 745.50 we place our stop loss order back inside the triangle, and if the trade moves in our favor we then move our initial stop loss order up to the breakeven point at 745.50, so we don't lose money if the market trades lower as it did just prior to reaching our profit objective.

The market would have probably met the profit objective if world economic problems hadn't triggered more selling in wheat as it did corn and soybeans during that time period. In fact, we were going to raise our stop to lock in a little profit but we don't want to trail the market too close to avoid being stopped out.
